DS LIVE: a French platform for real time video at the heart of the command center

Contemporary theaters of operations show that video has become a strategic lever, both for conducting missions and for managing media and political influence. The war in Ukraine is a case in point.

Faced with this era of “battlefield streaming,” IMPACT has been mobilizing its R&D teams for several months to bring DS LIVE, a mature tool, to life. DS LIVE securely centralizes, exploits, and broadcasts real-time video streams at the heart of the command post. Ultimately, it is an operational response designed to transform images into decisions.

What is DS LIVE?

DS LIVE is an application dedicated to the centralization, exploitation, and secure distribution of real-time video streams at the heart of the command post. It collects heterogeneous streams, harmonizes displays, and guarantees the security of exchanges. On a single screen, it allows users to observe, share, comment, and decide.

An operational response in the era of “battlefield streaming”

As with DS NODE, feedback from operational units in the field helped identify a critical need and calibrate DS LIVE. In the field, there is a considerable diversity of sources: smartphones, drone-mounted cameras, optronic sensors, night vision binoculars, rangefinders, etc. Why is DS LIVE a game changer?

  • Centralizes all heterogeneous video sources: this reduces information noise and facilitates coordination. All sensors speak the same language at a single point.
  • Offers an intuitive experience inspired by streaming platforms: this accelerates adoption and minimizes training.
  • Maintains robustness and security: military operations require seamless continuity.

An interoperable, intelligent, and collaborative platform

Integrated into the Delta Suite ecosystem and compatible with DS NODE, DS LIVE does more than just display feeds:

  • Automatically distributes video sources and their metadata: contextual data is as important as the image. Without context, the image remains silent.
  • Presents feeds in real time in a unified interface: reaction time is measured in seconds.
  • Overlays tactical data and enriched mapping: video must speak the language of the field.
  • Integrates metadata according to the STANAG 4609 standard: interoperability is the rule that guarantees modern coordination. The sensor’s trajectory and footprint must be readable by all allied forces that need to know.
  • Promotes collective exploitation via discussion channels, annotations, and tagging: team decisions lead to greater efficiency. A targeted discussion around each stream acts as a mini digital crisis room.
  • Guarantees availability and resilience through replication and load balancing: in operations, continuity is not a luxury. Redundancy and agility go hand in hand.

How is DS LIVE implemented?

The operational version of DS LIVE can be deployed from any platform (Windows, Linux, Android, iOS) equipped with a recent web browser, in line with the requirements of the French or allied armed and security forces.

By centralizing, securing, and making video intelligible at the heart of the command post, DS LIVE meets an identified, expected need that is now operational in the Delta Suite ecosystem. The field speaks. The command echelon hears. And the resulting decision is faster and better calibrated.
